TVS-E Leads in Indian DMP Market in Q4 2005 |

Printer manufacturer TVS Electronics maintained
its dominance in the Indian dot matrix printer (DMP)
market with a market share of 43 percent during
the fourth quarter of 2005.
According to the latest Gartner report on the
Asia/Pacific printer market in Q4 2005, TVS-E
has grown to No. 2 in the Asia-Pacific serial
dot matrix (SDM) printer market for Q4 2005 with
a year-on-year growth of 37 percent, the company
said.
Commenting on the achievement, S. Narendran,
head-marketing, TVS Electronics, said, "TVS-E
has been making steady progress from being No. 4
in 2003, to No. 3 in 2004, to No. 2 in 2005.
With positive economic and business environments
and demand from large automation projects in
government, banking and retail segments, we
expect the growth trend to continue for many
years. With innovative product offerings in the
offing, we aim to become No. 1 in dot matrix
printer segment in the Asia/Pacific."
According to Gartner, Asia Pacific is the only
region growing at over 20 percent in dot matrix
printer in the world; India ranks third, after
China and Thailand, with a year-on-year growth
of 17 percent in the SDM printer market Q4 2005.
The overall market for DMPs has grown by over 19
percent over 2004. Shipments of SDM printers in
Asia/Pacific grew 28 percent reaching 635,000
units in the fourth quarter of 2005, the report
stated.
The current estimates are that TVS-E is No. 3 in
the world behind Epson and OKI, the company
said. |
